VAT

VAT is a tax on consumer spending within the territory of an European Member (E.U.) State. VAT is not included in prices displayed on Bluehost’s site. When applicable, VAT is charged separately and will be itemized on invoices and billing information.

As a non-E.U. supplier of web-hosting services to customers in the European Union (E.U.), Bluehost is required to comply with the European VAT (Value Added Tax) regulations and charge VAT to customers located in the E.U.

Customers categorized as Business users in the E.U. may be required to self-account for VAT under EC Directive 2006/112, Art 196, using the reverse charge mechanism. For Bluehost to determine if you may fall into this category and not charge you VAT, you must supply all required information.

Note: If your hosting account accrued charges BEFORE you supplied the necessary information to Bluehost, VAT will be charged on all purchases prior to the change.

You're a US Company - Why are you making us pay VAT?

As a non-EU supplier of electronically supplied services we are required to account for VAT on these services provided to EU non-business customers as a result of the VAT place of supply rules contained in Council Directive 2006/112/EC on the common system of value added tax.
In order to fulfill our EU VAT obligations, we have opted to register for VAT under the special scheme for non-EU suppliers of electronic services, also known as the one-stop scheme, in accordance with Article 357 to 369 of the above EC Directive rather than register for VAT in each EU member state individually.
As we are registered for VAT under this one-stop scheme we are required to charge VAT to non-business customers at the rate which applies in the customer's member state. The VAT collected will be paid over tobhRevenue & Customs in the UK as this is the place where we have chosen to register for the one-stop scheme from an administrative perspective.

What is Bluehost's VAT Registration Number? Bluehost's Identification Number is EU826015180.
Why does your VAT ID begin with EU?

We are a non-EU supplier of electronically supplied services. As such, our VAT registration number is prefixed by "EU" and has been issued by the e-services (VOES) team for Bluehost Revenue and Customs - UK.

Where is my VAT amount on my invoice?

Is VAT included in Bluehost's prices?

No, VAT is not included in prices displayed on our site. When applicable, VAT is charged separately and will be itemized on invoices and billing information.

May I get a refund for VAT already charged to me, if I have now provided my VAT ID?

No. Refunds will not be given for previously charged VAT. However, once you have provided your VAT ID we will no longer charge you VAT.

How do I Submit my VAT Registration Number?

You can provide your VAT number at the time of purchase, or you can add your VAT number to your billing account if you did not provide it at the time of purchase.
Please review Supplying the VAT Registration Number for more information.
